Reply to Jefferys: Declining HIV virulence.

We are grateful for this opportunity, in responding to Jefferys (1), to discuss further the nature of the relationship between HIV replication capacity and disease progression. The published studies [of which seven are cited in Payne et al. (2)] examining the relationship between viral replication capacity (VRC) and viral setpoint, CD4 count, and CD4 decline, overall, have painted a consistent ...

Discussion of Akritas ’ paper by William H . Jefferys

In other words, the obvious thing to do can be the wrong thing to do. Oftentimes we find people using particular statistical procedures as “black boxes,” without fully understanding them. It is important to understand what you are doing and why. Unthinking use of a particular procedure without understanding its properties is a recipe for disaster. I also wish to call attention to William Wheato...

Numerical Solution of Heun Equation Via Linear Stochastic Differential Equation

In this paper, we intend to solve special kind of ordinary differential equations which is called Heun equations, by converting to a corresponding stochastic differential equation(S.D.E.). So, we construct a stochastic linear equation system from this equation which its solution is based on computing fundamental matrix of this system and then, this S.D.E. is solved by numerically methods. Moreo...

Heun Equation and Painlevé Equation

We relate two parameter solutions of the sixth Painlevé equation and finite-gap solutions of the Heun equation by considering monodromy on a certain class of Fuchsian differential equations. In the appendix, we present formulae on differentials of elliptic modular functions, and obtain the ellitic form of the sixth Painlevé equation directly.

FUZZY LOGISTIC DIFFERENCE EQUATION

In this study, we consider two different inequivalent formulations of the logistic difference equation $x_{n+1}= beta x_n(1- x_n), n=0,1,..., $ where $x_n$ is a sequence of fuzzy numbers and $beta$ is a positive fuzzy number. The major contribution of this paper is to study the existence, uniqueness and global behavior of the solutions for two corresponding equations, using the concept of Huku...
